Two friends made their dream come true in 2003 when they opened Rippit Quilt Shop. Sue and Donna have been friends for 30 plus years and traveled many miles together to different quilt functions. Often their conversation would center around the fact they should open their own quilt shop. In March 2003 they rented the lower level of the old Masonic Temple in Newkirk, Oklahoma. After several hours of cleaning and redecorating, the building was suitable to open the shop. In December 2005 Donna was able to purchase the building and has since renovated the upstairs for classes and meetings. They also have 10 small bedrooms for retreats, as well as a small museum with a lot of memorabilia from surrounding towns.
In March of 2013, Jennifer Baird became the new owner of Rippit Quilt Shoppe.
